Information for visiting jumpers

Welcome to Thai Sky Adventures.

Please read the following information carefully and if you do not understand 100% ask a member of staff!

Pre-Jump documents are available on this site as downloads

Boarding

Wait on the grass beside the runway until the pilot or loadmaster gives the instruction to board. Finish your gear checks Decide on exit order before boarding so you know where to sit! Please also inform the pilot how many groups will exit. Helmets must be worn for take-off and whenever the door is open (i.e. all jumpers must put helmets on during hop n pops whether jumping or not). Move as little as possible inside the plane.

Exit

The pilot will determine the spot. Wait for the instruction from the pilot before opening the door and jumping. It is a good idea to check the spot yourself before jumping, however do not wait too long in the door as you will hold up the groups behind you. Leave a minimum of 3 seconds separation between groups. For hop n pops we require a minimum delay of 3 seconds before deployment.

Exit Order

Fast is last! Large formation belly-flyers go first, then smaller formation belly flyers, then freeflyers. Tandems and AFF will always go last. Please inform manifest, the pilot and everyone on your load if you intend to open high. (i.e. above 5,000ft) Please also note that high openings are not permitted on weekends as we have a lot of air traffic.

Free Flying

NO freeflying on student Rigs!!! Get a briefing and clearance from Peter before manifesting for freeflying. If he's not around, ask Pradeep.

Landing

Once your parachute is open turn away from the flight line / jump run and check the arrow on the landing area. The arrow will tell you what landing pattern to use. This will be either left or right hand, depending on the arrow. Please refer to the pictures at the dropzone. If you experience crosswinds on landing you may turn into the wind on your final but only with extreme caution and watching out for other canopies Do not fly over the runway under 1000ft.

Thank you and Blue Skies!

Equipment

If you have not jumped here before or if you have bought new equipment you must have it checked by our rigger or chief instructor before jumping.

Once we have inspected your gear it is your responsibility to maintain it and make sure that reserve repacks, closing loops, AADs, etc are kept up to date. If you are renting equipment from us then we will re-pack your main for you after each jump. However, please note that renting equipment / buying tickets with rental does NOT guarantee that the equipment you want will be available. It is your responsibility to ensure that

a) the equipment is packed and ready in time for your load and

b) the equipment is available for you on that load. (i.e. if you are sharing equipment with somebody else it is up to you to organise this sharing). This includes helmets, goggles and altimeters.

Altimeters are available to rent from the manifest and there is no charge for this but we do require a passport/credit card/cash as deposit. Please also be aware that our students take priority for all rental gear. You may store your gear in the equipment room, next to the manifest office.

Manifesting

We are running a ticket system so you need to purchase tickets before you jump (i.e. we do not run a credit system!) When you are ready to jump please hand in your tickets to manifest. We try to ensure you're ready and packed for your load but when busy we cannot be responsible for missed loads – do not manifest unless you are sure you will be ready in time - if you're late, we won't wait!

Other Rules

We are trying to run a friendly but ultimately a SAFE dropzone. Please follow these few rules so we can continue to operate safely.
  1. No hook turns

  2. No opening below 3,000 for A license holders, 2,500 for B license and 2,000ft for C and D license.
  3. Audible altimeters and free-fly-friendly rigs are mandatory for freeflying - make sure your rig is inspected before jumping

  4. No alcohol or drugs - if we suspect you are under the influence of anything we will not let you jump!

Once you have read and understood this information, please take your paperwork and equipment to an instructor to complete your registration.
